Jims dad never caught a king so Jim, Jenny and I took Jims dad to get some kings Sunday afternoon. We left yankeetown marina around 2:30 shot out to 20 feet and started trolling the king busters. Within minutes we found the kings. We got our limit of kings alot faster than expected so Jim said lets go out deeper for some AJs. We took the bay boat out to 40 feet dropped the jigs and started pulling the AJs up. We couldn't have asked for a better afternoon.
Monday I had one goal to accomplish and that was to help Rory catch some grouper in Cedar Key. His last few trips haven't been the best, most of the C/K reports haven't been that great and I haven't fished C/K in 4 months so I let him know I would give it my best shot. The plan was to make our 1st stop at one of my 30+ foot spots and just keep working our way out till we found the grouper. Well I guess I just got lucky because the first spot that I stopped at I haven't fished in almost a year and the grouper were just waiting on me like they missed me LOL.. As soon as we put our thread fins in the water we were hooked up with keeper grouper. The grouper bite was awesome we had our limit of gags and reds before 11am. After we had our limit of grouper we caught a few on jigs for fun and even had an AJ show up. I was so excited that the grouper were as easy to catch in C/K as they were in Y/T and C/R that I gave Rory the gps# I never give out my #s but It was his wife's birthday next week and they were very nice people and needed a good grouper# so I gave it to him. After losing my mind and giving one of my #s away we talked about what we were going to do for the rest of the day. We didn't want to go out deeper and we didn't want to keep catching and releasing grouper so we moved about 5 miles to the kingfish hole to troll the king lures. I think the spot should be called the spanish mac hole because all we caught there was spanish macs and bluefish. We had our grouper so we called it a day early.

Nice fish. This forum looks like your own personal blog. I'm new here and fish out of Steinhatchee.
Welcome to the forum. I look forward to some more post out of our area
HI everyone. I'm a newbie here and saw Jim's posts. Went fishing out of Y/T on 5/25 and had a great 1/2 day with the kings. We came back in at 1 and released 4 kept a couple of 20's and one that went 46lbs. Hooked what I assume was a jewfish because we could not turn it and after 2 minutes the 30 lb line got cut after following him a ways. Mexico hole was the area that was fished. Came back by the CK king hole but the grass was too bad to fish. Hopefully more posts will be made here. I need help on pics and posting them. Bill
