Finally got offshore. My cousin Richard "Chooch" and I went out to Stoney and the Fantastico to try some Butterfly jigs for the first time. We never used them and it was a first with them, brought 8 in total, 4 7 0z and 4 9 oz cuz we didn't know squat about them. We made some bait in about 50' and being so anxious didn't get enough but had some a nice mix. When we got to Stoney we marked all kinds of fish all over the area, but all we got was Barracuda they were like wolf packs everywhere we moved. After about 2 hrs of Barracuda catching and loosing half our jigs and half our live bait, I decided to move to the Fantastico. found some real good pods of fish and managed to grab a small Bonita and finally Amber jacks! My god! I hooked a small 5-8 lbs A.J. and half way up a MONSTER A.J decided he was gonna eat it.....and did! that pole was a 7' med/hev Ugly stix w/ a Penn 550 w 80 lb leader and 20 lbs line, that I thought was gonna be the first Ugly Stix to snap in 20 different places, this A.J. was HUGE! 80 lbs Maybe ???? I don't know, but HUGE! well after 30 mins or so I managed to get him almost to the boat and, bling the small A J that he ate pulled out of his basket ball sized mouth! Damn could not believe it. We trolled some weed lines but no Mahi and we trolled 3 different columns of water with no other fish but Barracuda, and we caught alot of them. I don't know if it was because of the moon the night before ( it was pretty full and bright ) or what but all that was biting was Spotted Wha-Hoo. Here's a couple of shots on the water and off.

Well, Tried again for some Grouper, & ARS, on the Butterfly jigs. this time Hard bottom. Another fun day! We (my cousin) and I were catching BIG fish all day, just not the fish we targeted. We fished 90'-140' and here's what we were on.
