We knew after the water temps fell last week after our first major cold front of the Fall Season, that the Cobia would be arriving any day. We headed out into the Gulf in search of the Cobie's on a couple shipwrecks within sight of land.

We were NOT Disappointed ! First stop in 40 ft of water we found the wreck stacked with bait. Nothing up top or in the mid depth ranges, so deep we went!! Jigs with Curly Tails were the ticket. Cobia in the 32-33" range, right at the limit. We elected to release these guys as we had plans of heading out a little deeper to see what was lurking in the deeper depths.

As if on Cue, the Cobia were hanging deep and eager to suck down the beautiful Threadfin Herring we were able to Sabiki up. Right on the bottom like you would Grouper Fish. Amazing how fast a Cobia can make it from 60 ft deep to the surface to tail walk and splash all over. Great site on an absolutely flat calm day.

I love it when a plan comes together !
