This is from a couple of weeks ago...right before a cold front came in.
We launched out of Gulfport and headed out to the PAG marker. Too many boats baiting up, so we headed to Ft. DeSoto. Got bait there, and we decided it was going to be a close to shore day, with the weather coming in.
We hit the beaches, and didn't wait long for the first hit. The spannies were making a good show, and a bonito was reeled in by my son. That was his first bonito, and he was stoked. The weather is looking worse by the minute, and it's about that time to head home. I put out a blue runner while we trolled toward shore, and it paid off quick. The reel sang, and another one joined in. Double hook-up!
I wound up losing my fish fairly quickly, so I was able to see my son battle the fish. When he got it to the boat, we both screamed like he had caught the biggest king ever. I think I enjoyed the moment more than he did, lol!

Intirely too cool
I really enjoy taking my kids out and seeing them catch something new.
Next on my daughters list is a tarpon.
That is awesome!!
Very cool
I always thought getting my kids into fishing kept them from getting into trouble.
