First of all Just want introduce myself. My name is Kyle, I live on Terra Ceia Island and like many people I'm a FsFF Transplant. Thanks all you long time SWFF guys for having us over. I have a 21' Century bay boat and I fish from South Sarasota bay to Tampa and everywhere in between. I do most my inshore fishing in Terra Ceia bay, usually out of my canoe. Offshore fishing is my real passion, and I get out as often as possible. I love fishing with new people and anyone is welcome on my boat any time I have a spot open. If anyone needs an experienced angler to fill a spot just let me know, I got my own gear and I have experience with just about every type of fishing from Swords to Sheephheads.
On to the report..
Headed down to Sarasota Yesterday morning and met up with my buddy Mike and his dad Bill. We cleared New Pass around 6:30 in Mike's Hydro-Sport, picked up 2 dozen pins and grunts at Fish Haven. We hit our targeted area in 67' and started looking. Every time we hit the area we can't find our holes that we have marked but we end up finding new spots in the area. The hard bottom spots that pop up in this area are no larger then a small boat, your either on the fish or your not. We had solid action all day on live bait and cut sardines, landed around 20 short RG's and about a half dozen in the 17"-19" range. It's kinda disappointing to catch so many near keepers but it's encouraging for the population. Bill had one stud 50' off the bottom before it decided to take him for a ride back to the bottom, broke his 50lb main line when he locked the drag up. We lost some other solid fish but I ended up putting one stud in the box for dinner, he went 26 1/5".
