I knew the window in which I would be able to fish today would be very small so, I took the pooch and headed out to Anclote ramp just for a couple hours. Cruised over right in-between Fred Howard and the 1st little island by the red roofs. About 4-6 feet. Lots of good size Macks, sea bass, trout and saw some cobias swimming around. I wish I would've kept some of the Macks for the smoker as I'm smoking a turkey and a brisket for Thanksgiving. Didn't even think about it.
I love using tube lures this time of year with a 1/8-1/4oz jig head. Wouldn't hurt to keep some wire on board for the toothy guy's.
Also just a friendly reminder, Trout is closed south of Anclote (where I was) and the Sherriff (not marine patrol) is out boarding and checking for safety equipment and illegal fish. I got checked and got my fancy sticker but also spoke with the guy's about what they've seen so far. A lot of people are keeping short groupers, very short. And they're catching people with trout, a lot of people.
What??? ya didn't think the Macks would add a little flavor to the turkey![]()
