Hit the ramps this morning with Donny a little after 5:30am... Made the run down to the #14 Buoy for some baits. Water temp was 72-73 exiting the SLI and was 74-75 at the buoy. When we arrived I drove to where we had it marked as of last Sunday and it was gone.
We never did find it, but did manage to find some baits there. Either they came an picked it up to get it repaired, or its moved somewhere. Water clarity wasn't good enough to see if visually.
We spotted this board that had a couple of smaller triple tail on it..
Its now 9:30am and our live wells only had a little over a dozen baits in them so we decided to just go fishing. We had some small runners and cigar minnows and I brought some hoos to troll with today. We ran straight out and found some nicely scattered weeds in about 65ft with a water temp of 77 degrees. We make a quick drift here with no bites. Got a shout out on the radio by someone but when we responded, they never called back. Did a radio check and all was good...
We ran out to 130ft to some more scattered weeds and made another drift with no luck there as well. Made the call to run to the Hill and try out my new dredge/teaser.
We put out two BFT tuna rigs (Billy Bait and a C&H Rattle Jet) out on the outriggers..
Two skirted hoos out close to the boat...
And a live runner down deep on the downrigger...
We trolled the Hill for a couple hours with Zero takers. Its now about 2:30pm so we make the run in, in search of anything fishable and found nothing so we stopped in 65ft at Evans Crary and dropped in some liveys and made one last drift. Just as we are ready to call it quits, Donny hooks up the first fish (not counting the bait fish :biglaugh: ) of the day...
You guessed it, Alwaysharked...
Called it quits around 3:30pm and make tracks to the ramp.
Todays Tally:
1 Alwaysharked
How did you all do today?
Didn't go fishing, went catching instead, the macks are back in force from the inlet to Pecks. Many bigs ones mixed in with the schoolies. Great fun on 6lb spinners.
