Got the offer to ride with my buddy on his 256 Dusky out of Sebastain... Picked up Clark at 0415, then headed south. Met up with Brent and his buddy Eric in Palm Bay, loaded the boat, then headed to the ramp.
Dunked the boat, loaded up the well with pinners and headed NE. First stop was covered in gags. Caught 6 or so shorts, 2 legals, and then rolled out a little deeper. Slow pick at some snapper, every stop produced 2-3 gags, but none of them legal though. Eric found a MONSTER lane, and Clark tail hooked a gag and a nurse I've seen ppl tail hook fish before, but 2 in one day should be some sort of record!
We bounced around the rest of the day and it never really fired, ended the day with 6 red snapper, 2 gags, 1 23" lane, and a couple of triggers.
Jim! So good to hear from you, I have been lost without you. Enough with the Handler bromance. How is the water color? Temp? Bait? Tell us more it has been too long since we have been out. The boat got the first coat of primer and the final coats of paint should be applied soon hopefully.
Water in 60' was nice and blue, out around 90' it got a little green. Current was almost nill. We anchored every spot except the last two, I think tide went slack and with no wind we were just spinning around the rode.
Bait was hard to find, we got a couple of small vermillions (don't forget they're CLOSED), grunts, bass, and I did manage ONE small gog that got dropped 3 times and came up untouched.
Good to hear about the boat, mines going on the market real soon so I'm going to be a boat ho for a while.
Eric with his massive lane...
Myself with 2 of the snaps...
