    Default Grouper Trolling, Again !!

Been on a kick lately of setting out to do nothing but locate new grouper grounds. Jackpot again today. Limited out on Gags with a good friend and his brother who was on Vacation from freezing Ohio. Found some great real estate in 60-65 feet of water that was stacked with fish. A lot of 22" fish that we released to grow. Steady action all day.
Gags to 15 lbs, reds to 10 and nothing but sunshine after the morning fog lifted. Doing it all over again tomorrow.

Bomber CD 30 in red/white and cotton candy colors !

    Nice catch
Have you tried the Mann's stretch thirty's? I've found them to be good for shallow (20-35') Grouper Trolling. Don't know what the action would be behind a planer, but I would think 20-30' back they should work the same.

Stretch 30's are a thing of the past for me. They never run true and the body cracks under water pressure and takes on water, destroying any action the lure "may" have had.
Bomber's CD30 in Red/White is the hottest Grouper Trolling lure you can pull in our parts this year. The action is insane and yesterday I had one bumping bottom in 65' of water.
Their A-Salt HD7 is the ticket in shallower water, say 25-40 feet.
A Stretch 30 would never work behind a planer as the resistance from the lure's lip would immediately trip the planer. No need for a planer with any large lipped plug.
Either way, I would highly recommend the Bomber CD series. They are by far, the ticket this year !!

Ever try any white and red 6oz jigs. I have good luck with them on
my electric downriggers running right above the bottom.
    Nice catch you got there.

Yes, we like the jigs as well!
BTW, if interested, we have a Great Free Snapper Seminar Coming up at West Marine in Sarasota this Saturday the 9th. E-mail for more details if interested. With grouper season closing in under a month, this is a good time to sharpen your Snapper Fishing Skills.
