My crazy friends and I wanted to catch something big so we headed down to the keys for a couple of days to target the big Almaco jacks and Amber jacks that spawn this time of year. The jack fishing was Awesome! we were in 900 feet the first day in Key Largo and in 600 feet the second day in Islamorada. We were using 7-9 oz vertical jigs for the jacks and they could not resist them. We landed several AJs in the 80-100 lb range and I heard that there was a 130pounder landed in Islamorada this weekend on a charter boat. The jack fishing was incredible and the dolphin and the tuna were just a bonus to an already great weekend. All the jacks were released since they are spawning and they don't taste good anyway.
Jim (Jrowdy) caught a shark on a vertical jig and didn't want to get to close to it so I got his jig back for him
