    Default What is this?

We caught some Mai hi yesterday and we found this in his stomach. You know us fisherman we have to see what they have been eating. It looks like a juvenile bill fish of some sorts. Here is a general description; on each side there is some hard bony scales that run from the head to the tail. The dorsal is a bit damaged but you can see the rest pretty clear.

Does anyone have a clue as to what it may be?

    regards,

    Dayne

Because of the length of the lower bill. and general thinness, I'm going to say it's a long billed Spearfish.

albeit, a juvenile one at that.

Dayne, you can also send the hi-res version of this pic to fishfacts@sportfishingmag.com for a possible ID by one of Sport Fishing's experts. (If we publish it in the magazine, you could get some Berkley line.)

    I'm going with the Spearfish.
