In the March issue of Sport Fishing they had an article titled Assist Hooks for Casting Poppers and Trolling Plugs. Part of it delt with removing treble hooks and replacing them with assist hooks. They were really strong on using Halco plastic-coated twist-weld wire to do so. West Marine had no idea what I was talking about and a computer search was no help. Does anyone have any experience with this product? Or did this come out to coincide with April Fools Day?
Halco is an Australian manufacturer; its outstanding lures are distributed in the U.S. by Accurate Fishing. However, you'd need to contact them directly to see if available in U.S. or else to get information on ordering the wire, which by the way, Halco has recently renamed: It was Twist-Weld; it's now Lock-weld. Halco's website is www.halcotackle.com/tackle.html. You can email Halco at halco@halcotackle.com.au .
Hope that helps!

Hey guys,
I run the Bluewater tackle stores in OZ and work just down the road from Halco. We deliver all over the World. We also offer advice on all styles of fishing. You have a number of options when it comes to changing the regular hook setups on diving and topwater lures. We have specific techniques when it comes to stopping Giant Trevally (caranx ignobilus) and other monsters. We have been experimenting and perfecting these techniques for years. If you need advice on whats available feel free to ask.
