Default Redfish Redfish Redfish Tampa Bay

Sunday with no charter Captain Steven decided to treat himself to a day chasing redfish. The full moon made for some great tides today so I took advantage of the cooler incoming water. My day started like a regular charter by catching bait.
Needing white baits and threadfins I started on a grass flat chumming for white baits which to some time. It took me an hour to fill the lie well. The threadies were easy to locate in deeper water along the Sky Way Bridge. Drift into the school, one toss will get all the threadies you need.
I lowered the trolling motor and eased up on an oyster bed tucked tied to a mangrove island. I was awestruck looking at 300-400 big redfish. A kayaker quickly hooked and did battle with a solid 30” red. The kayak was doing 360’s. The he scored again all the while my bait was being ignored by hundreds of redfish.
With the tide picking up speed Captain Steven got into the action. For the next hour it was battle after battle with reds 30-33” up to 12 pounds. If you have never caught a big red you are missing a thrill. These bruisers take 10 or more minutes to land and after 3 or 4 you need a break.

Thank you very much, but I prefer to fish for redfish from a more stable platform than a kayak!

    Great report, Cap't!
