I hooked up with James of Hookher tackle and Dave of GAFF magazine to do some shallow water fishing. Our original plan was to go offshore in my big boat for grouper and cobia but NOAA called for 3 footers so that usually means 3-5 so we decided to do some inshore fishing for red fish. The red fish were coming in the boat one after another so around lunch time I let the guys know if they wanted to try for something different we could do some trolling over a few shallow rock piles in 10-15 feet and we may get lucky with a keeper grouper or two, so they said lets do it. We got to the spot and started dragging some of the new Hookher tackle trolling lures that dive 10+ feet and right away one got slammed with a keeper gag. We started trolling again and got a double header. The action stayed hot till around mid afternoon. We got an easy limit of red fish, a million spanish macs, and well over our limit gags which was a big surprise to me because my shallow water grouper spots don't usually turn on till October. I had a good time showing the guys another Extreme fishing adventure.
Now it's Grouper time!!!
