12-17-2010 Port Saint Lucie Offshore Fishing Report:

Hit the SLI to dead calm seas with Doug today...





Heres VinDawg catching some baits this morning. The Blue Runners and Jacks were thick this morning... Loaded up both wells in about an hour.



And Mental Floss.



We ran out to 200ft to a rip and set-out some blue runners on some balloons... No takers while we were gettin the trolling gear rigged and ready. We dumped them in as well as my dredge in hopes of bringing up a sailfish for Doug. We had a nice knockdown early but after 3 or 4 bats at the bait he never came tight long enough to get hooked up.



We continued our troll south and hooked up a fin for the box.







Nice boat...



Shortly after we passed that Sporty we had another sailfish in the spread. Doug saw it nail his bait but after a quick drop back he never hooked up...

Continued the troll and picked up this BFT in 180ft



Bonita were in this same area...



Heard someone on the radio state that they got a call from a buddy on a SAT phone that was heading to the islands an passed some massive weeds 24 miles offshore. I took one look at Doug and asked him if he was up for the run and without a second passing, lets go...

We get 26 miles out and found a solid rip running as far as you could see north and south...



We get a solid hit as soon as we dumped in the hoo's but it came unglued. Trolled by another massive weed patch an opted to toss in some liveys and Doug get hooked up to the 25" fin that we tagged and released.





More weeds as far as you can see...



Put out the hoo's again on a troll to try an cover all these weeds and spot a large patch of weeds out away from the line so we trolled on over and BAMB... The Islander Chugger gets slammed by a big bull...













Heres the general area were we found the weedline incase anyones interested in hunting tomorrow...



We even caught an Alamaco Jack trolling... Go figure...







It was around 2:30pm now so we decided to make the long trip in sloppy condition back in. Hit the AJ spot on the way in but no one was home.
