Can anyone give me any info for the Palm Beach area in March, what would be the best approach for doing a little fishing by boat or by beach. I will be staying at PalmBeach Shores Resort,@ 181 Ocean Ave. Palm Beach Shores Fl. I see there is a inlet not far from there. Thanks
If you're going by boat, I recommend you go for sailfish. You'll see a whole lot of boats doing the same thing. Make sure you have a livewell in boat to keep sardines [pilchards or herring] alive.
You'll either catch them nearby on beach [or close to] or somewhere in the bay before you head out. Use "sabiki" rig to catch your live pilchards or herring. Or you can just buy them from a another boat that sells them nearby. I've been fishing for 25 yrs. & I sometimes buy my bait instead of catching them, much easier.
20lb spinning rod & reel will do with a 50lb test leader [3-4 ft.] attached to your line. And of course, free line, meaning no weight attached to line. Or you can cast out the sardine, let some line out, then grab line coming out of the rod tip, fold line, insert a small egg sinker thru both strands, & when it comes out other end of sinker, put a little piece of rubberband [half in. long, thick one] & pull back on double line to cinch it back inside of egg sinker. Open your bail on reel & let some line out & your bait will go down more in the water column where sailfish & kingfish will be lurking.
This way you'll have 2 rods in water, one on top freelined, & the other a little more down. Now that's wise fishing [& it can work for all other kinds of fishing]...
