What a fantastic week of trophy striped bass action ! This week the larger 20-30lbs++ class striped bass have moved in and with few exceptions limits and catch and release of these larger denizens were enjoyed while snagging live bunker.

The week started off with a good bite while trolling Tony Maja Bunker Spoon, but as the bunker moved up the beach BOOM ! The spark was set to the powder keg. Regular Karl Steffan was joined by friends Bob and Carl for fast-out-of-the-gate striper action on artificial in "sporty" conditions .

Karl earned the title "Bass Master" as he limited out on striped bass with ultra light spinning tackle within 15 or so minutes of the trip with smaller 9-12lbs class fish. A short ride up the beach we found schools of bunker being completely knocked out of the water by attacking striped Bass! The guys were doubled and tripled up at times with these large beauties till trips end.

The guys managed their limit of large 20-30lbs and continued to catch and release till trips end! The Ken Purvis party was out the next day in hopes of the same action . We unfortunately did the grand tour of the atlantic before we found a mountain of bunker and bass out in 40 feet to our North. Not only were the bunker impossible to snag at that depth but the bass seemed indifferent to anything and everything we sent down or trolled by them.

Back at the inlet we were able to save the day with smaller bass (keeping one) and plenty of 2-9lbs blues on light spinning tackle. The Tony Maffie group experienced another epic striper bite on live bunker. Again the guys were into fish all trip long being doubled and tripled up through out the morning! The guys managed a full limit of bass even with their bonus tags and still managed plenty of catch and release as well!
