Myself and a few friends headed out of Panama City Saturday morning with a well full of cigs, pins & threadfins looking for the endangered red snapper.
It wasn't as easy to find them as we had hoped but after about 2 1/2 minutes of hovering over a little live bottom we managed to get bit! We caught our limit of snapper, a handful of scamp, a few chicken dolphin and two very nice black grouper!
It sure did hurt putting those grouper back over the gunwale!
Then we took a short run on Sunday morning to a little junk pile and caught our limit of red snapper in 9 minutes! On the last red we noticed that black snapper had followed the red up to the boat and quickly put a cig in their midst!
We ended up with a nice red grouper and king and let the 'greenhorns' have some fun catching a few bonita.
All that and back at the dock by 10AM!
Hard to beat!
Hopefully, the MSA will save the snapper from extinction! There are obviously none left!
Not many places in the world where you can do that... That sure is a healthy fishery!
Congrats on your fishing.
