July 22, 2011Fish Reports
We had one of our guys out fishing with some family members from the north. They headed out John’s Pass pick up pinfish for bait and some greenbacks and headed out to around 10 miles and spotted a school of what looked like jacks but with a lot of color and when they got closer they saw Mahi Mahi which is very rare in 33 foot of water. They spotted small 1 inch bait in water ,they hooked up some small greenbacks and also small cut bait chunks and started casting to the front of the school and started hooking them quick landing small 12-16 Mahi Mahi this stayed like this for around 3o mins. Once the action stop they moved on out 2 miles to a spot with small ledges to start grouper fishing in which they used all the pinfish and a 5 lb. box of sardines all the grouper came up shorts but another great day of catching fish.
