Well since this was my birthday weekend, and i have not been offshore in a while we decided to hit up The two georges out of Tarpon springs for some grouper, grunt and hogfish .Todays trip was a 10 hr trip. we shot westward right at 8 am. got to the fishing grounds about 10 ish. First bait down was a whole herring. Boom i get railed! ohh this is gonna be a good trip. Well silly me thought 30lb leader would do. WRONG!
Get the fish hooked up a few turns, then the fish said"Ohhh heck no" and pulled me to the rail and pop.
Time to rerig, i switch to 60lb leader...Put a chunk of ladyfish on.. Hit bottom and wait a few.. Darn grunt finds his was onto my 7/0 hook. Ohh well into the bucket.. I love eating them buggers. But i was here for grouper.
next bait down a 20.5 inch gag finds his way to the surface. Big kiss and sent em back.
Well we start to swing off the wreck a bit.. So Capt Jessy jr. Comes around telling everyone where to toss the lines cause we swung off. Sure enough people who knew how to cast Instantly hooked up.
Must have had 12 gags on the boat in the box before we had 10 grunts. :O
Awsome. Then someone up front gets a 21 or 22 inch hogfish.
Well after i break off another big fish on 60 leader the bite shuts down.. Everyone around me blamed me..lol in good fun. So off to another spot. First bait down Bang im railed again! Pop.
Steadily watching nice fish come up around me. so i switched to 80lb leader and suddenly no bites. steady stream of fish all day.. I managed probably 20 juvi gags and red grouper lots of grunts..3 or 4 14 inch scamps. By the days end Allison and i managed 1 nice gag about 25 big ole horse grunts. And a fabulos time. Everyone onboard is so helpfull and friendly. Have never had as much fun on a boat as i do on "the two Georges" fishing boat.
Final tally for the boat was 44 passengers 41 grouper up to about 15 lbs.
Maybe bigger a dozen or so big hogfish and hundreds of huge grunts.Weather was beautifull seas were a bit bumpy for a few..lol. Met a nice man who thought he had a river monster on with each hook up.lmao he kep't shouting river monster..lol
Ok so here are some pics. enjoy.
