Default THE FIN HUNTER (crappie fin that is!)

Well, after talking about it since last year, Shane and I finally hooked up yesterday for a crappie fishing trip. But I guess I should have shown Shane a picture of what a crappie looks like. The man spent the first couple of hours catching large mouth bass! I'm telling you Kevin Vandam would have been envious of his bass catching skills. If there had been a bass tournament on Shearon Harris lake yesterday, we would have surely placed in the money! Here is the Bass Pro with his 2 largest fish of the day caught back to back in less than a minute!

So, after the bass stopped biting, His friend Tommy and I were able to get him to focus on what we were really after. The papermouths! It was a chilly start but the action was hot first thing yesterday morning. We no sooner had lines out when Tommy noticed his rod bent over and he put our first keeper of the day in the box. Tommy had never trolled for crappies before but I think he really enjoyed it.

Shane was not to be outdone as he had his hands full early too.

Around 10:00 or so the weather and the water were warming up and I decided to leave the fish biting to check out some other areas. It was a bad call as it turned out, because although we caught fish, it was a lot slower paced than I had hoped. Still we were slowly but surely filling the box with fish.

After a couple of hours of being stubborn, we went back to were we started and got back on the fish again. Around 2:00 Shane decided to call it a day as they had a long ride back to Rocky Mount. But Tommy wasn't read y to give up yet and he talked Shane into staying another hour, which was a good call as they put some more nice fish in the boat. When it was all said and done, we kept 28 nice crappie, threw back 5 or 6 bass, and 3 nice jackfish (chain pickeral). I had a great time fishing with Tommy and Shane and I don't think we would have a hard time getting Tommy to go again. Here are the crappie killers and there largest fish of the day. Thanks again Shane, lets do it again real soon.

Just get him on, then we'll worry about gettin him in!

Sweet report! Good to see Shane can catch freshwater fish just as good as the saltwater ones. Congrats.

Thanks again for the great day Boyce, I had a blast!!!! I do not think it will be long before Tommy is telling me to give you a call for another go at it. I still think you should start running Crappie charters as you have the technique down pat!!!

You are the King of Crappie! Could not imagine Spring without a dozen or so solid reports from Boyce. Great job with the catching and full picture report. Netman
