World class striper fishing is going down off the central and northern New Jersey coasts as daily double digit catches of bass ranging from 25 to 45 pounds are a near-guaranteed occurrence. Salt Water Sportsman Managing Editor Nick Honachefsky joined Brian and Eric Keating along with Local Smoke BBQ Steve on the Killer Bea to fish off of Spring Lake, NJ. Bunker schools were so thick, they were literally stacking on top of one another, and stripers were waiting underneath to pick them off. In 4 hours time, 18 striped bass from 30 to 42 pounds were released from the Killer Bea. All the bass ate up live bunker freelined around the edges of the bunker schools, and circle hooks insured a solid jawbone hookset. The fishing off Jersey is legendary right now, and may last until the end of the month.
