Panama Fishing Report
July 15th 2012

This weeks Angler’s coming from Upstate New York are a Father and Son Team Scott & Mike Young who have never fished Panama before so we were ready to greet them with what Panama has to offer. After meeting and greeting them at the David Regional Airport here in Chiriqui we were off and running to the Lodge for a little relaxation then to prepare for some awesome Offshore Sports Fishing for the following day. Scott is an Avid Angler and has fished in numerous places so Panama was a dream for him and we can see that he was excited to be here.

Wahoo Wonder

After making bait and head straight to Wahoo Wonder for the morning Wahoo Slam it was Mike who really did all the slamming, he did a good job on numerous Wahoo while Scott was getting cut off. But that is Wahoo fishing as we well know.. They enjoyed the Hoo’ for the morning feeding so it was now time for a little bottom feeders and Snapper time over at “El Hueco”.

Mullet Feeders

Here at “El Hueco” these guys jumped right into the action and the Mullet Snapper were all over their Jigs and Bait. We could actually see Mullet’s, Trigger’s, Rainbow Runners, Cubera’s all feeding on small squid just below. As soon as the bait hit the water it was Hold on with buckled knees. The Cuberas would hit the bait hard and dive, but Scott and Mike were all up to the task… Some did break off but that is a Cubera fight for you…

Popper Fishing

Just as we were ready to wrap things up and move on to Mahi we notice the bird action and dolphin jumping just a distance away so I asked them if Tuna was on their mind. Good thing, so I ask them which method did they prefer to fish them.. Out came the Popper Rods and the Running and Gunning started. Scott did well with the popper after boating a few and Mike been new to this type of fishing did well and enjoyed it to the fullest.. These two caught enough Yellowfin that by the time the Adventure was winding down you could still see the Tuna feeding just yards away.. But they did mention that their was so much marine life below and above they now know why they call this place Anglers Paradise or National Geographic Country.
