My father and i will be fishing for togs soon and we wanted to use fiddler crabs. No baitstore in our are sells them and the only spot we know of to get them are in the creek in our neighborhood. The only problem is that the place where they live is a soft marsh are where it dangerous to walk in it. Any ideas or tips on how to catch the will be appreciated
I have no personal experience with this, but your question brought to mind an episode of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations in which they harvested sea urchins in a similarly soft marsh on stand-up paddle boards. But instead of standing on the boards, they ventured onto the mud lying stomach-side down on the paddle boards. Maybe you could venture out in the soft marsh in a similar fashion, although you'd be missing out on speed and agility.
