The wife and myself drove down to Carrabelle last weekend (1/11/2013) to check on the doodle bug(our boat) at the moorings. The weatherman was predicting pretty weather in the high 70's.Arrived on Friday early and spent the day checking all the usual stuff oil, antifreeze, batteries and the alike.Checked NOAA and they were predicting 1 to 2's Saturday morning with a light breeze out of the SE. So we decided to take the boat out for a ride and maybe catch a few seabass for dinner.Headed out of the river about 9:00am Saturday morning and NOAA had it right this time. Made our way about 6mile SE of dog island on some rock bottom and began drifting and fishing. The first drop produced 4 large seabss 2 on hooks and the other 2 on the lead. They were real hungry. We did this for a couple of hours, taking several breaks and just enjoying the beautiful weather. Ended up with a nice mess of seabass and a very enjoyable trip in January. Black seabass the other white meat when grouper is closed.
