I was living outside of Paquera, CR for a while, spending all my free time trolling for Rooster. I have had great success with free-lining live bait out near the rocks. But my question is, what is this baitfish? You can catch them with ease off any structure with fish scraps and a small hook, and the Rooster love them (maybe not as much as lisa).
They look exactly like Blue Runner, which I saw all the time growing up in the Atlantic, but from the sources I have checked state they're not found in the Pacific? Maybe a Pacific species? The locals call them Bonita, which doesn't make sense to me.
Anyways, any one know?
Looks like hardtails to me. That's what we call blue runners around here. Could be some slightly different jack species, but it's hard to tell...
Coheenuha, Blue Runner, Green Jack, Hard Tail, Tuna Candy.....whatever! They are all one in the same. Great bait for everything here in Panama as well!
