This Week
We had a pretty good week of fishing this past week. Sunday we had some unbelievable dolphin fishing. We caught about 20 of them in a day and some of them were big ones. Wednesday the dolphin bite slowed down so we dropped our lines down and caught a bunch of red snapper. We caught about 18 red snapper in an hour! The fishing charter group was happy that their rods were bending all day long.
Weekend Predictions
This weekend I expect there to be a few scattered dolphin, wahoo, and sails for the trolling boats. There should also be good bottom fishing conditions as well as a few free-swimming cobia and more cobia on the manta rays. The seas will be rough on Sunday.
I predict this because there is a strong near -shore current due to the south winds. This current makes it so that we don’t have a strong current edge. This makes it harder to catch dolphin. However the current makes for decent bottom fishing. The current makes the bottom fish, like grouper and snapper, more active.
I plan on doing a little trolling at first and then moving into some bottom fishing. This should keep our lines tight all weekend.
I am available for a fishing charter this Friday.
