This year still is staying to the strange side. Just can not seem to break the 26 inch mark for Trout. Last week in the howling wind picked up one that measured 26 inches. Saw a few more on the drops that were in the same range.
This week was better, but not quite as good. First Trout, a 24 incher came on a top water. Next fish was a screamer, peeled line like crazy. Too fast to be a Trout, Red or Snook. Wound up being a 6 pound Spanish Mackerel. Tasty dinner. Next Trout came out of a Red spot, hit on the 3 inch Berkley Gulp Minnow. Measured 25 inches. Picked up a 16 inch Trout and an under slot Trout and Snook.
The Ribbon Fish are getting bigger. Think they have taken up permanent residence in the canal. Nothing more disappointing than seeing a big silver flash and thinking Tarpon, only to see a pointy head under the plug.
