Fished the Grant area on the Lagoon this week. Moderate winds so it was not too bad. First stop, Hog Point, plenty of bait out front. Plenty of Jacks to go with it. worked back inside. Big Mullet were all over. Usually a good sign for Reds, got 1 Rat and an 18.5 incher. Further back, spotted what looked like a Small tarpon, would not Play. Lost a good Trout and boated a 20 inch Red. Continued working the edges of the Mangroves. Bait scattered back in a pocket. Quick cast and hookup. Good sized fish. Thinking big Red, then came the jump, a fair sized Tarpon. No chance with a 1/0 hook and 15 # test leader. Fun for a few seconds. Started to hit nothing but big Ladyfish so I moved to Snag. Hit a small Snook, kept having shadows follow the lure. finally on a deep point caught a Black Drum and had a second one on the next point. Released both of them. Stopped at a spoil island on the way home. Covered with bait, usual Jacks. This time produced an 18 and a 20 inch Trout. Pretty good way to finish the day.
