Do you mean Zebco? I am not sure the spin master combo is even made anymore. What are you looking to go after? Your location might be a good starter and whether you will be fishing inshore or off.

yes i do mean zebco, sorry about that. i'm located in connecticut, right on the water in long island sound. i'll probably just be fishing inshore, no need to get crazy yet.

I am going to go out on a limb here and assume this is a 6-12 lb spinning outfit, but I could be way off, not sure. Is the reel on the smallish side?

nope, its a 14-25 lbs spinning outfit. the reel is mid sized i think, and i clearly remember hating its guts becuase it rarely cast well.

The fact that you remember not likeing the reel is good enough reason to go purchase another one. Do you want your initial experiance to be swayed by the fact you'll be using equipment that is old and inefficient? I'd like to think not. The reason you're starting back fishing is because you want a hobbie you'll enjoy, right?

You can get an inexpensive spinning reel combo that will more than do the job. Mmmmm, if you want a medium size outfit, I tell you what i'd do.

Penn Sargus 5000
Shakespear Tiger Stix/ 30 lb class
20 lb suffix braid

That outfit is going to cost you around 170.00 bucks, and will still be catching fish long after you're dead and gone. It casts flawlessly and can handle most anything you'll run into.
